Food was great - great flavors and quality cuts.
Ambiance was beautiful and acoustics were wonderful as you didn’t hear everyone talking all at once.
Service was good - Mia was wonderful and kind. Had great educated recommendations - she knows food. Service though was very slow from appetizer to drinks to entree. We were there for 2 hours… at one point we started to wonder if they forgot our entree order as we picked at our bread basket for a long time.

It was a quiet weekday, so unsure if it was just a slow chef or short staff in kitchen but based on that - only go if you have nowhere to be after 🙂

Willing to give another shot in the future.

What a great evening at the Maverick! We had the Wednesday special which was cordon Bleu with spinach and mashed potatoes and also included a delicious dessert! Our service was so classy yet so friendly. Conversation was easy and the atmosphere was comfortable. Loved the special touches, the glassware and the fabric napkins at each place setting. Everything was delicious. I commend the chef!

My favorite dinning experience in SA. Visited from Toronto. The pork chop was THE best pork chop iv ever had. Nice crisp char. Flavor was impeccable. So juicy.
Also had the gnocchi. OMG out of this world delicious. So decadent and creamy. Hubby had the schnitzel it was a fantastic crunch. Very tasty lemon caper sauce.
Food was 11/10

Ambiance was very romantic and inviting. Our server was on point as well.
If you're in SA this restaurant is a must

The wife and I came for a date night on a recommendation from a foodie friend. They had a great whiskey selection so we sat at the bar. We got the bread basket, steak au poivre, and half chicken which were all great but the star of the show for me was the oysters and gnocchi. I’d come back regardless but definitely for those. We also got dessert and were treated to a caramel ice cream. The service was great all around but our bartender was especially awesome.

Came here for brunch. The eggs tasted like oil, perhaps they used too much when cooking them. The Steak was not very tasty and had a lot of fat. Likewise, the chimichurri sauce on top was a no go for me. The fries were alright, but also had that slight oily taste. Lastly, My friend found a fly in their mimosa leaving us unsatisfied with our experience.

Went for drinks and dessert and it was delicious. Dark Chocolate Torte is more than enough to share andcthe Fruit Tart is exceptional. Our server, Angela, was great. Very attentive and really knew what she was about. Thanks for a wonderfully perfect time.

Put Maverick Texas Brasserie on your bucket list of things to do in San Antonio. You will not be disappointed. The service is top-notch (Thank you, Jacoby!). We ordered the bread basket, french onion soup, Mixed Grill, and gnocchi side dish. Their namesake cocktail is also great! 5 stars all the way around. I forgot to take pictures. I'm going to have to go back for the burger, anyway, so I'll remember next time.

For those who are considering dining at Maverick, please consider this review solely as my personal experience and not neccessarily a deterrence for your dining experience.

Normally when I frequent restaurants such as this, I tend to set a high expectation based on what's advertised and the cost.

On a Friday evening on August 23rd, my family and I were super excited about hanging out at Maverick Texas Brasserie. I came across their Instagram page and was immediately intrigued. Upon arrival, it was a little tight pulling up at the curbside valet due to the small space to park for valet while watching out for passing traffic while exiting your vehicle.

We were warmly greeted and escorted to a table for 4 guests. We started off with two cucumber flavored mock tails which were a hit. Our appetizers were also a hit, very delicious ?, which perfectly set the stage for our entrée. While we waited, we conversed and I got to steal glances at my novel that I brought to read. My novel was book 5 of an 8 part book series that I was deeply engrossed in.

When dinner finally arrived, we were presented fries, a fish dish, and the tomahawk steak with potatoes. To my shock, the fries were obviously burnt, and the fish dish was dry. The steak had no flavor, the fat wasn't rendered properly, the temperature(medium plus) which I asked for wasn't what I got, not to mention the potatoes were undercooked.

We obviously did not complete the $180 worth of tomahawk steak, the burnt fries and the undercooked potatoes.

Throughout our experience, our server didn't make us feel as important. Hopefully she didn't have preconceived notions about us which may have affected her service to us. With that said, the only item that was omitted from our bill was the burnt fries. It just behooves me that someone would allow underwhelming food to get out from the Pass and make its way onto someone's table. With that said, we got our $360+ check.

On our way home, I made the discovery that my novel was left behind and it was too late to turn around. I called Maverick immediately the following day and was told that someone might have heard about or seen a lost book. I was promised call back, but sadly no one returned my call. On Sunday, I called back and provided more details and was promised a call back whether or not the novel was found. During that conversation, I felt rushed because they were preparing for a Restaurant buyout. Again, no one cared to return my call.

This is my reason for giving Maverick Texas Brasserie a 2 star review. Thanks for taking the time to read my honest review and hopefully your review will be better than mine.
