I donate blood regularly and went To donate here (my first time with vitalant) they went through the entire process inputting me in the computer and even pricking my finger to check my Hemoglobin Only to go through all that and have them tell me they can’t take my blood because I have ingrown hairs… I shave my arms so that happens and I’ve never had anyone not take my donation because of it. I would have been okay if they looked at my arms and said we can’t in the beginning but going through all that and the finger prick just to waste my time really bothered me. I’ll never donate here again and I assure you if that’s how you are with people regularly they won’t either.

Basically, they said it’s a risk to have your child in the same room with you because we have to do a fingerprint so unless the nurse or phlebotomist/person taking blood is a complete moron, which it sounded like she was or retarded, then she was saying she would stab my daughter Because it’s unsafe and she can’t trust herself. I Do not Recommend donating blood here they do not care for your well-being or your child. Apparently they would just rather stab your child and have you in another room isolated from them so they could do whatever they wanted to your baby.

Usually a pleasant experience, despite the vampire attacks. Free snacks when they have finished with you.

As far as blood service places go, this one is about average. The second time I went in, the person taking my blood blew the vein [pushed the needle through the other side, instead of having the tip inside the vein], leaving a bruise which took two weeks to fade. The next time, everything went perfectly.

Low points:
- Difficult to find the building.
- Hit-or-miss for experienced staff.
- Interview gets annoying after the first few times (a necessary irritation to ensure safety, required by US FDA).

High points:
- Play area for kids. Has a big picture window so they're visible to the parents.
-Shorter interview process for more frequent donors (see "Silver hero" on the website) and for those who bring in a "FastTrack form" (also available on the website).
- Staff is attentive, but not patronizing.
- Cholesterol levels and other personal statistics available online after each donation.
- Rewards available: Tshirts, DVDs, movie passes, etc.
