I often times have a hard time with the Mexican food in Texas cuz I grew up in a different region of the United States. I had no such qualms about eating at this establishment. Their cuisine is sublime my son his best friend and I could not stop raving all evening about how good it was. Their service was on top of everything we needed for the entire meal and we cannot wait to come back

Very disappointed. My husband and I are big foodies. This place was rated a 4.7 and in our opinion, it’s more like a 3.0. The chips and salsa were good so we thought for sure, it only has to get better from here. The cafe the olla was very tasty as well. DO NOT COME WHEN YOU ARE EXTREMELY HUNGRY! It took an hour to get two plate of chilaquiles and an order of tacos… Presentation was good but unfortunately the food was bland. No flavor to the beans or potatoes. The chilaquiles were ok. We order tacos of Fajita, barbacoa and lengua… none of which were good. They all lacked flavor and seasoning. We would not be coming back.

BEWARE!!! Check your food before you begin eating! After being sat upon arrival, we were pleased with the no wait time however, after an hour and 15 minutes of waiting for our food, I had to get up and track down our waitress to ask what happened with our food. Long story short they forgot to place our order 10 minutes later our food comes out lukewarm and as my daughter begins to eat her tamales. We noticed her tamales were old, cold and moldy! SEE PHOTO BELOW! When I brought it to the ladies’s attention at checkout, she simply said that they were super busy and dismissed my complaint! Sadly, we will never be returning! Instead, we will be reporting this to the Texas food, health and safety department!

Lengua by the pound is good. However it takes almost 2 hours to get your food. We asked an employee of they were shorthanded and they said no, they have 5 cooks in the kitchen. So I don't see the excuse for the delay as they only had about 15 people in the place

The mole and the cafe de olla were the better option. Not a lot of servers nor regular tables. I wish there were more food options from this city that the restaurant is named after.

This is an excellent and authentic Mexican restaurant, not Tex-Mex.
The food was not greasy or smothered in cheese. The ambiance is pleasant and clean. The staff is amazing. This will be our new place to go.

I came to this place around 2:30 pm and I guess the lunch rush was over since it wasn't many people there. The environment was real nice and clean. Now for the food, I ordered the quesabirria plate with rice and beans with consome dipping. I also ordered two tamales and it came with sauces, one was green and the other was a darker sauce.. it came out to be around $15...it was reasonable for the price I paid. I had it to go. So I drove 15 min to the crib before I got to eat it and let me just say, it was still friggin Tasty ? despite the 15 minute wait before eating. Everything about it just seemed fresh made like it just came out of the kitchen and brought to my table as if I was to dine in.... The quesabirria was really good, the meat was tender and it had cheese. Even the white Onion and the green stuff was fresh which I like because other places seems like it's old ingredients, this one was fresh. The rice and beans tasted great also. The tamales is probably one of the best ones I've had in a long time. So shout out to the food preparer and the kitchen cook. They did a great job. A lot of times they never get credit... Also the shorter girl that helped me take my order was really pleasant. I was very demanding because I asked for water, and then I asked for lemon and she answered some of my questions. She didn't give me any attitude whatsoever.. she was great.....Overall I'm definitely coming back and 100% would RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!

Arrived around 7:20, they close at 8pm.

Food was good, fresh, ? and tasty!

Chicken ? tamales were big and full of meat and flavorful w/o salsa...green salsa was our favorite.

All plates were very tasty, and they didn't rush us.

Relaxed vibe and friendly staff.
