This place it’s great! Food was on point, service was excellent, and the Cuban atmosphere was perfect all the way down to the dominos on the tables and decorating the walls. I got the El Principito. It’s basically an authentic Cuban with a twist. They add a little mozzarella/ provolone combo to the swiss. It works well! They even garnish the sandwich with a strawberry rose symbolic of The Little Prince falling in love with the rose. The Cuban Roots were tasty! Not greasy, but with the right crisp and a touch of salt. If you are in the area, you won’t be disappointed. Portion sizes were good, everything else on point!

A friend of mine recommended that I come to CUENTO Sandwiches in Doral, FL to try their Amazing Pan con Bistec ( EL CID ) sandwich. She knew that I love to try new places so my friend and I gave it a shot and we ended up coming out here to have our first meal at this cute establishment. As I was going over the menu, I decided to go with the EL CID A CABALLO sandwich because I was in the mood to have eggs also. My friend, well she decided to go with the Original EL CID sandwich. Let me tell you, we were BLOWN AWAY with how good they were!! These were by far the best Pan con Bistec sandwiches we have had in a very long time! The little malanga sticks and the special sauce that was in the sandwich made these sandwiches stand out! They gave them a unique and creative taste that added to the original take on the Cuban pan con bistec! And they were both served super hot. The sandwich tasted like all the ingredients were freshly prepared which is a plus anywhere you go. Nobody wants food that’s been sitting around or stale, am I right?! I highly recommend coming to this fabulous restaurant. Their staff was friendly and knowledgeable, the restaurant was nice and clean and best of all.. the food was great!! We can’t wait to come back and do it again! It is also wheelchair accessible. The parking was easy and free and I had no issues getting into the restaurant or the table.

The pair of chefs behind Cuento Sandwiches have successfully elevated the sandwich scene in Miami with their gourmet take on Cuban classics. Michelle Duncan and David Shipman opened the shop in January 2024 after running the Purple People Eatery food truck for more than a decade.

The restaurant is artfully themed around historical and literary Spanish characters ("cuento" means story), with wall art reminiscent of dominoes, accented with literary quotes and artwork. Each table has a domino set, and books are sprinkled around the space to encourage guests to stay a while.

Menu highlights at Cuento include the pan con bistec-inspired El Cid (top sirloin, mozzarella, provolone, shallot compote and crispy malanga sticks, served with their pink Campeador sauce) and the media noche-inspired Don Quixote (chorizo cantimpalo, smoked ham, mozzarella, provolone, Swiss and pepinillo, served with Mostaza Lozano--a creamy light mustard that would go just as well with stone crabs as with this sandwich).

Their croquettes are unlike any you've ever tasted. The cracker crust and creamy filling highlights the unique qualities of their house-made sauces. Try the ham and chorizo croquettes with the house-made guava and sriracha ketchup for an out-of-this-world bite.

I had an amazing sandwich today at Cuento Sandwiches in Doral.
I actually discovered it by accident a couple of days ago on my search for a classic Cuban sandwich.
Today I tried the first of the many mouthwatering creations of chef David- the El Cid sandwich. And as if great food wasn’t enough, the atmosphere is great as is the hospitality of the two founders Michelle and David. The interior design is a tasteful mix of modern and classic, with many details referring to the Spanish and Cuban ancestry (as if the names of the sandwiches don’t already give it away). The El Cid sandwich is their bestseller, David told me, and I perfectly understand why. So, I can’t wait to try Don Quixote next time I go there (which will be pretty soon). if you are somewhere in or around Miami, go there!

Got the El Principito and the Don Quixate. Both were amazing sandwiches and were hefty. Amazing flavor! Fries were also great. Over 5 stars if I could!

Tried this place with a few buddies and ordered 1 of each sandwich and there wasn’t a single one that I would not order again. The most unique and flavorful sandwiches I’ve ever had - truly amazing. Pan con bistec (El Cid) was #1 and the others were tied for 2nd - all equally amazing just completely different sandwiches, which is nice. Will definitely be going back soon, and with a few buddies again so that I can enjoy them all all over again.

Ham and Serrano croquetas and the seafood croquetas were also delicious. Every item has its own unique home made sauce either inside or on the side for dipping.

Truffle fries were also a nice compliment to the sandwiches along with the various Jarrito soda flavors. Not many establishments carry that soda and Cuento had all the flavors along with an excellent beer selection & multiple premium/alkaline waters to choose from. Well done, chef - did not expect anything less from a Belen grad. Will definitely be a repeat customer.

Visited for the first time today… ordered the Sancho Panza, the Don Quixote and some Cajun fries.

Sancho Panza - 10/10: phenomenal and unique flavor… wonderful combo of ingredients, prepared with finesse and care. Every bite was an absolute joy.

Don Quixote - 9/10– not a traditional Cuban sandwich by any stretch, but in some ways better. A reinvention on a familiar theme, which seems to the point of the whole restaurant! Once again, some unique combinations at play here, with the result being delightful bursts of disparate flavors with every bite.

Cajun Fries— 7/10 Enjoyed them. I feel like both sandwiches were so tremendous and packed with flavor, my meal may have benefited from standard fries, which may have given a more neutral contrast.

Great ambiance, thoughtful interior design aesthetic; warm and friendly staff (i suspect one was the owner). I will be back, I will recommend this place to others and I wish this restaurant the best of luck in this south fla market! They really have something awesome here! Can’t wait to try the jerk smash burger!

They have the best sandwiches and possibly the best Frita (named:Sancho Panza) in Doral/Miami. Sriracha Honey sauce is a must. Croquetas are also fire. Wish they open a little earlier to make it an official breakfast. Go!
